What began in 1907 with her first Casa dei Bambini in Rome, where children learned through hands-on exploration and self-directed activity, grew into a global movement rooted in respect for each child’s natural curiosity and potential. The Montessori philosophy emphasizes independence, purposeful engagement with thoughtfully designed materials, and learning that follows the child’s unique pace and interests.
